Get Started
traX allows you to put together workouts from any number of cardio, strength and flexibility exercises as well as supersets consisting of up to three strength exercises. Initializing your workout training session, your exercises are then started automatically one after the other - you don't have to worry about anything, just work out!
Setup
On first start traX guides you through the setup process, asking you for
- Your Name
- Body data
- Sync your data with Apple Health (recommended)
- If you do not want to connect with Apple Health to sync your body data please make sure to update your data on first start or later in the Profile tab. traX needs those values to calculate your calories burned.
- Access to your location, needed for outdoor activity tracking
- If not granted, calories and distance for your workouts are calculated with default values.
- Step Counting
- traX will query Apple Health for your current steps and display them within the traX app as well on the traX - Steps widget.
Navigation
Menubar
Use the menu bar at the bottom to switch between Dashboard, Workouts (containing all workouts, exercises and supersets), Activities (shows former activities or current session), Statistics and Profile.
Dashboard
The dashboard serves as traX homepage with steps and activities widget, tipps and tricks and traX release notes. Configure your dashboard in Settings >> Dashboard.
Workouts
On the workout page all your workouts are shown, you can filter them by category or favorite and search term.
Exercises
On the exercise page all your exercises are accessible, you can filter them by category or favorite and search term. Create exercises of type cardio, strength or flexibility.
SuperSets
On the superset page all your supersets are accessible, you can filter them by number of exercises or favorite and search term. Create supersets from up to 3 strength exercises.
Activities
All your activities are accessible via activities menu item. You can filter by activity type and search term, access activity record or start a new activity using the Start Activity button. Active Sessions are displayed here as well.
Statistics
traX collects your workout progress like distance, calories, number of workouts and exercises and more. In statistics you will find all the numbers, charts and bars.
Profile
On profile page you can add or change your profile picture as well as your body data needed for correct calory calculations.
Settings
Settings are accessible via the gear icon on dashboard or profile tab. Configure defaults for
- Activity Sessions
- Exercises, Workouts and Activity items
- UI settings (dashboard)
- App properties
About
About is accessible via the (i) icon on dashboard or profile tab. On About view you can access traX help and support, get in contact with me via email, online form, Instagram or Twitter, check out new features list, read licence and privacy information or support me by putting some coins in the top jar.

On the superset page all your supersets are accessible, you can filter them by number of exercises or favorite or search for keywords. Create supersets from up to 3 strength exercises. Add a superset to your workout like a normal exercise.
Workouts
Use workouts to create your individual trainings. Add all exercises and supersets for your session to the workout created, reorder them as needed, then simply start your training using the Start Activity button on the workout detail page.
Activities
Access all your activities, in detail view you will find the overall session summary plus all detail summaries per exercise inluded.

Settings page lets you set defaults for
- Activity Sessions
- Exercises, Workouts and Activity items
- UI settings (dashboard)
- App properties
Profile
On profile page you can add or change your profile picture as well as your body data needed for correct calory calculations. You can choose to let traX sync your body data from Apple Health, in case you don't make sure to add your data manually, otherwise correct calory calculation is not available.
FAQ
I like traX for tracking my fitness, do I need to pay for it?
No. traX is for free. Nevertheless you can support me by putting some coins in my tip jar via (i) >> Tip Jar.
I did not allow location tracking on setup, can I change that somewhere?
Yes.
- Start a cardio activity, when the activity starts the system should ask you for location access.
- If the dialog does not show up, go to your iPhone settings, search for traX and use the Location menu to allow access.
I did not allow Apple Health access on setup, but I want traX to sync my activities to Apple Health. Can I configure that?
Yes. traX asks for read data which is your body data plus write data which are your activities.
- Open Profile and activate Synchronize with Apple Health. In the upcoming dialog check all access you want traX to give.
- If the dialog does not show up, go to your iPhone settings, find Data Protection, open traX, here all access priviledges are shown, update them as desired.
I created a workout with several exercises, when starting it the first exercise does not start immediately, but shows the list of all exercises. How can I set immediate start?
On Settings tab: Open Settings, on first tab in Activity Settings check Activity Quickstart.
I noticed that activity start and end time difference is more than shown in activity summary, does traX calculate this value wrong?
No. There is a setting allowing you to either stop activity timer between single exercises or keep timer running. Open Settings, on first tab in Activity Settings check or uncheck Auto-Pause after Exercise.
